The Application as a Narrative

Interdisciplinary artist John W. Love, Jr. discusses and walks participants through his essential considerations when presenting proposals and applying for grants and fellowships.

In preparation for this workshop, attendees should consider the following and bring three copies of each:

  • A short description of a desired or proposed project (50 words)
  • A detailed description of the project and its final form (250 words)
  • A one-sentence description of the project
  • A short narrative about what drives your work and why you do what you do (100 words) 

Love is a recipient of the 2011 ASC McColl Award, a 2014 Fall Rasmuson Foundation Residency at the Anchorage Museum, a 2016 NC Arts Council Visual Artist Fellowship, a 2017 Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, a 2019 ASC Cultural Vision Grant and 2019 Reemprise Fund support.
